Rapid HIV testing

RHT (Rapid HIV Testing) I've been reading is available here now in Australia. Been overseas for a while I think and now they want to integrate it into HIV prevention and treatment here. There's 4 places so far that are doing it and gauging how to best implement it across the community. Check out the ACON link here:
Rapid HIV testing is now currently available to gay and bisexual men attending four sexual health clinics in Sydney. The clinics are participating in an ongoing study of rapid testing in Australia. The study's primary purpose is to identify the best way to integrate RHT into existing testing services and whether or not services need to change to provide it, and assess the patient experience of rapid testing and also the experience of staff who have been trained to use the rapid tests. more

This will be a big advance in detection of HIV and getting people to get treated. Not being tested is of course a big way HIV gets passed on. Is much better knowing, and taking appropriate measures in light of a positive diagnosis, than not knowing and continuing on without detection.

It's also better to get tested at one of these places even if you're not wanting the RHT (I got tested at Albion St Centre). Most ordinary GP's don't seem to have much of an idea that you're supposed to have proper counselling both before and after an HIV test.
