Abbott's baby gravy train for high earners

Why am I not surprised? The age of entitlement is rip roaring along amongst high earning parents.

Whilst people like me are taking to the streets to protest a budget that would see our lives decimated, Abbott's Paid Parental Scheme is about to pay out tens of thousands of taxpayers money to women who earn over $100,000 a year. In fact more women that were estimated to be entitled to it. About 7,000 would get a $50,000 payout, all funded by the taxpayer.
Almost 7000 women who claimed taxpayer-funded baby leave last year earned more than $100,000, Centrelink says.

These women, who claimed the leave under Labor’s existing scheme offering 18 weeks’ pay at the minimum wage, would secure $50,000 under the new scheme.

When women earning $90,000 a year or more are included, the Centrelink figures show 12,082 women will be eligible for payouts of $45,000 to $50,000.

In total, there were 131,207 recipients of baby leave pay, suggesting nearly 10 per cent of Australian working mums will secure $45,000 payouts.

But the final figure could be higher because the new scheme doesn’t have an income test. more
Yet in the media people like me on the DSP are portrayed as getting too much off the gov FFS! Yep, less than $20,000 a year. What greedy bastards we are! Undeserving peasants. How dare we demand to eat!
