Corporation lies to Centrelink, enter ACON

It's started. ACON has officially taken on David's discrimination case. Hip hip hooray! It's been a long road getting to this point, with multiple indications that the management didn't care about how he was treated. These however, although on the face of it were very incriminating, it was still lacking in oomph. ACON is on a tight budget I guess and they only take on cases that they'd feel confident in? I dunno.

It was Centrelink that finally bought them undone. The other day when Centrelink rang them to make sure David still had a job to go back to, as part of the criteria for the Sickness Allowance benefit. They told Centrelink that David had resigned, a complete and utter lie. Yes, this large corporation lied to Centrelink. He hasn't even been terminated, has no termination form to take to Centrelink. He was never paid any finishing off money, including pro-rata long service as he'd been there more than 5 years. He's got nothing off them, not even his nursing competencies to get another job.

Needless to say, lying to Centrelink is a serious offence. So serious in fact that the payroll head office of this health corporation rang David soon after he rang his work premises to find out WTF was going on there. The payroll head office leader had gone around the place asking everyone if they were the one's who'd done this. They weren't, and David was informed that the assertion that he'd resigned came from his workplace. They lied.

Well now, on top of all the other evidence, they've now given false info to Centrelink. Now they're in a real pickle. They say he resigned. So where's his termination certificate?

Well this is going to be so interesting. I've never had anything to do with a discrimination case before! Now I've got front row seats :)

At the moment the statement of what happened over the months is being put together by David's lawyer. These things take a long time. But hey, it's worth the wait I reckon. ACON takes on a large health corporation over discrimination of an HIV+ person in their employ.

Stay tuned :)
