Frances Abbott didn't deserve scholarship - her teacher

Another day, another explosive revelation about the Abbott gov. Today's gov nightmare is the continuation of the Francis-gate $60,000 scholarship that was given to her. Which Tony Abbott did not declare despite having to declare any gifts to his children of over $750. Abbott gets around it by saying that the scholarship was awarded on merit and wasn't a gift.

Enter her very disgruntled teacher from the school, who has since been sacked (allegedly unfairly) and is taking the school to the Fair Work Commission over it. Naming Tony Abbott himself as a respondent to the case.

Additionally, he has given the whole affair a big spray, saying on no uncertain terms that Francis Abbott did not deserve the scholarship:
Frances Abbott did not deserve the scholarship she was awarded, the academic who leaked the information to the media has said.

Design academic Melletios Kyriakidis told the Australian Financial Review he was "morally outraged" when he discovered the prime minister's daughter had been granted the $60,000 scholarship.

While Mr Kyriakidis said Ms Abbott was a "high achiever" who worked hard, he said others were more deserving of the unannounced scholarship.

"Even from her class I could name 10 people more deserving either for merit or financial need or both," he said.

"Frances is a lovely person. I don’t want this to be about her but I want this to be about fairness." Read more
