Did the Lieberals commit treason?

Treason - the crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill or overthrow the sovereign or government.
 Such may be the case with certain members of the federal Lieberal party? On last nights Australian 60 minutes, James Ashby gave a tell all interview about the goings on behind the scenes during the Peter Slipper scandal.

For those overseas who don't know, this scandal unfolded during the Gillard prime ministership. Her gov had the slimmest majority with Peter Slipper being the speaker of the house. If he could be gotten rid of the Gillard gov would be in serious trouble.

Christopher Pyne has always said he never met with Ashby. However Ashby says he did meet with him and was offered a lawyer and job. Brough said he asked for a sly copy of Ashby's diary to be gotten, and he discussed the affair with collegues in the federal parliament. He refused to answer if he'd discussed it with then opposition leader Tony Abbott. To me, it looks like they were all in it up to their eyeballs.
