Or as Abbott is so fond of saying about straight marriage, "since time immemorial". I really have a problem when he claims that about straight relationships, as being the be all and end all of all societal stability. The truth of the matter is that throughout human history gays have always existed, and indeed wherever there is humanity there are gays. Along with all the relationships and love that have and will exist.
