It's on! Lieberal leadership vote next week!

The PM will forever now regret knighting Prince Philip. It was the last straw:
Prime Minister Tony Abbott will face a spill motion against his leadership early next week after West Australian Liberal MP Luke Simpkins emailed party room colleagues to announce he would push for the PM's leadership to be put to a vote.

The spill motion will be seconded by MP Don Randall, with a third WA Liberal, Dennis Jensen, saying he will support it.

The ABC has been told the MPs called the Prime Minister shortly before sending the email.

In Mr Simpkins' email he writes that: "In the last two weeks I have been inundated with emails and walk-ins to my Electorate Office all questioning the direction the Government is being led in.

"The knighthood issue was for many the final proof of a disconnection with the people. more
I'd say the numbers are there to roll him. Turnbull wouldn't move without them.

Still it's very messy. Lieberals pulling a leader is like they're pulling teeth. This is of course a complete humiliation. All that bullshit they gave Labor about Gillard and Rudd, and now they're doing it themselves; turfing a first term prime minister.

I expect there will be much soul searching and self analysis after this within Lieberal ranks, at how they could let it get this bad for them. In fact how did Abbott even end up as PM? It was politics that got him there, nothing else. No leadership qualities, no brains, no determination to serve the people. Political conniving pure and simple. The result of a money and privilege.

His 18 or so months as PM will undoubtedly go down as the worst in Australian history. I can't remember a leader anywhere who was so diametrically opposed to the society they governed.
