DSP growth declined for first time last year

A very interesting article about the lies being told by the gov that the growth in DSP recipients (and other welfare) is out of control and needs to be slashed and burnt. For example the above graph showing us DSP'ers growth figures for the last 20 years.
As a result, the Gillard government in 2011 instigated a number of changes to the eligibility criteria for DSP. They clearly had an impact. In 2012 the number of DSP recipients grew by just 1% and in 2013 they fell for the first time in the 21 years which the DSS records cover. more
I keep saying here that after the Gillard gov bought in those changes in early 2011 there's been a drastic fall in the number of successful DSP applications; the word on the grapevine is about 75% rejection rate. Yet Abbott and co keep banging on how it's out of control and all.

Anyone who doesn't believe my view, go and try and get on the DSP then. It takes about 6 weeks and a mega form, with an interview by Centrelink. You have to meet criteria on a new 20 point thing as a measure of your disability. If your disability is going to improve in 2 years that in itself is enough to deny the claim.
