Australians demand climate change action - gov ignores Australians :s

The latest survey from the Australia Institute on climate change concerns and energy supply shows 73% of Australians are concerned about climate change, increased from 66% last year. This is directly opposed to the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison gov's stance presently, with Morrison himself being a climate change denier.

However Morrison and co have taken no heed of continual scientific findings on climate change and continual polling showing a large majority of Australians are worried about it and want strong action from the federal gov on it. I believe in politics they call that a "tin ear". This is more like an ostrich head in the sand hiding from reality. Almost a psychosis.

The latest climate change denialism comes from RWNJ Matt Canavan. From Queensland, he's rubbished a climate change report put out by the state Labor Queensland gov on threats faced by humans from climate change. Against science and Australians, he accused those involved in the findings as being drugged and imagining the climate change threats.

You'd think that being 12 points behind in the polls would make them actually listen to the concerns of Australians about climate change and make an effort to act on them. But not this gov. Bound by their ideological opposition to climate change facts they're giving the finger to science and the Australian people.

Yes folks, this is our present gov. Keating got it right with the Liberal party calling them "unrepresentative swill" years ago. Indeed that's exactly what this gov is. Career politicians, grown up in privilege, tied to their ideology, having no idea of what's going on in the mainstream community.

Not only with climate change. I mean FFS Abbott actually believed the No vote would win in the marriage equality postal survey. All the RWNJ's in the gov did. That's why they demanded the survey in the first place.

Federal resources minster Matt Canavan has ridiculed a Queensland Labor government report on the health impacts of climate change – and how best to minimise them – in the latest sign the Morrison government has no intention whatever of taking global warming seriously.

The 63-page report, released by Queensland (Labor) health minister Steven Miles on Tuesday, was put together by Griffith University’s National Climate Change Adaptation Research Facility (NCCARF) and the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA).

It pinpointed a broad range of industry concerns about a range of climate impacts on health and wellbeing, including farmers’ mental distress from increasingly frequent extreme weather events, and heat stress on vulnerable communities.

Stakeholders – including from government, universities, the health sector, and aged and childcare workers – also voiced concerns about food and water insecurity, malnutrition, worsening chronic, cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, and children’s health and development.

But Canavan, who appears to have a new role in the Coalition Cabinet as minister for Not Taking Climate Science Seriously, dismissed the work as seemingly drug influenced, and based on “imaginary” threats.

“This report reads like it was written during poetry slam night at the happy herb cafe,” the senator reportedly told The Courier-Mail, a Murdoch newspaper, on Wednesday.

“The Queensland Government should focus less on the imaginary threats of a climate induced drug outbreak and more on the real issues of waiting lists and health services for Queenslanders.” Renew Economy
