Although NSW's looks a dead certainty to go to the Lieberals, the election here in a couple of months still has the Toxic Tone/Abbott factor. Fairfax media today reports that 8% of those who voted Lieberal in the last NSW state election are not doing so this time because of Abbott. Although not enough for Labor to win gov, that is a sizeable swing against the Lieberals.
But the poll also shows for the first time that the performance of the Abbott government has driven almost one in 10 Liberal National voters away from the Coalition at a state level.
It reveals that 8 per cent of those who voted for the Coalition at the 2011 state election have changed their vote because of the federal government's performance.
If replicated at the March election, the overall result would have the Baird government easily returned to office, although with a swing against it of 8.2 per cent. more
