The most interesting bit of it for me was the email campaign from a conservative christian lobby group, who set up a site for people to email Lieberals telling them not to ditch Abbott when he nearly got turfed. The issue cited was marriage equality and Abbott's refusal to allow a conscience vote on marriage equality.
So there you go. Perhaps Abbott is still in power now simply because christians don't want gays to get married. I think I might be getting delusions of grandeur :)
