QUEENSLAND state MPs will not be receiving a 2.58% increase in pay after Labor ministers rejected the extra pay at yesterday's Cabinet meeting.*faints*
Last week the Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal increased MPs' base pay from $148,848 to $152,688.
But yesterday Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said ministers had voted to reject this, saying they were committed to stand by their election promise of only accepting increases that were in line with public servants.
"We will be linking the salaries in future to public sector increases, which are done at the end of the year," Ms Palaszczuk said. "MPs will not be taking this pay rise." more
