Likely Abbott will be charged by Int. Criminal Court

Reports coming out of Manus Island as a result of gov policies seem to be getting worse and worse. Asylum seekers are being treated very poorly there. Along with all the other policies of Abbott's border protection regime, it adds up to instances of crimes against humanity.

This will make Abbott's near death experience in losing the job of PM look like a walk in the park.
On Monday, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture, Juan Mendez, released a report (below) that found Australia in violation of the Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CAT).

The report found multiple violations and identified the systematic nature resulting from government policy.

Juan Mendez, is a survivor of torture and former special advisor on crime prevention to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (@IntlCrimCourt) in The Hague (ICC)

In February this year, Wilkie and Barns provided a comprehensive brief to the ICC, following their initial request for an investigation.

There is an ever growing list of official (national and international) reports, evidence, statements by international human rights bodies and defenders, whistleblowers and media reports the ICC are analysing.

We’re constantly learning new horrifying details of human suffering that is the result of Australian government asylum seeker policies.

Will the ICC decide the alleged crimes are of sufficient gravity to be admissible? I’d put my money on yes. - See more
