Americans are god's people - apparently

I was about to can the computer and wander off to the telly, investigating the new file transfers yesterday from my neighbour's hard drive to mine (and no he's straight so there was no porn). I mean the home page gets a bit internet "heavy" as they say when you load it up with about five videos or so (or two if you live in Australia and our 100 year old copper network). But this one was just profound darlings.

It is "American" exceptionalism at it's worst (apologies to South America there). This man, in 2014, claims that the US is a model, a chosen state, representing the coming kingdom of god. This is exactly what offends the rest of the world about the US; that some of them actually think that they're like the next Israel-its or some shit. As reflected in the notion of "American exceptional-ism".

That they're somehow better than the rest of the planet's people, simply because they're from the US. That us mere non-Americans are not as good as them, simply because we we're not from the US. It's an absurd proposition, but alas it has gained strength in much of the US.

Imagine Indonesia, Australia's closest neighbour and the biggest Muslim country on the planet, were to announce to the world the idea of "Indonesian exceptionalism". Rightly so, we Australians would find that an entirely revolting concept. As we do with "America".

David has gone to work and I went to the psychologist for my latest brain/mood evaluation and advice (that's tomorrows post BTW). Came home and he'd already gone, so I'm home alone terrorising the internet (that will get the NSA's attention ....).
