Of course back then everyone thought it was impossible and would never happen. Or will it........ Hershey is teaming up with some 3D printing thing to do just that.
Hershey Co. and 3D Systems Corp. reached a multiyear joint development agreement to explore and develop ways to use 3-D printing technology to produce edible foods, including confectionary treats.
"We believe that innovation is key to delivering relevant, compelling consumer experiences with our iconic brands," said William Papa, Hershey's vice president and chief research and development officer. "Whether it's creating a whole new form of candy or developing a new way to produce it, we embrace new technologies such as 3-D printing as a way to keep moving our timeless confectionery treats into the future." moreWill it work? I haven't the faintest, but it's a very interesting way to go with research. We already download information to get songs, video, etc. It's a big jump but I assume it would simply be a different kind of information being sent to a 3D printing device that's capable of printing out food.
I don't think I'd like eating any of it though. Even on Star Trek there's often complaints about replicated food.
