Pensioners ponder suicide over Abbott's cuts to home care

This is one pensioner's response to the cuts to home care by the Abbott gov. Believe it or not the gov heartlessly and psychotically have told pensioners themselves to make up for the shortfall in costs. Many of them can't, being pensioners you know, and will be forced out of their homes into nursing homes where they can receive the level of care they once received in their homes.

Moving the cost of care from gov to pensioner. This must be another one of Abbott's efforts to befriend the electorate who claim he's out of touch? Do this sort of thing to people and expect the community to like and trust you? FFS.

It will cost the gov more in the long run to fund expensive nursing home places. Blundering neanderthal baboons. Not a fuckin clue.

Petition here from the pensioner Margot Harker, thinking of suicide. So far 39,000 people have signed up to her plea to not be forced out of her home and into a nursing home.

'I've thought about suicide': pensioner

Despite concerns from industry and individuals, the Government has not wavered.

In a statement, Senator Fifield said "elements of an individual's package" were "a matter for negotiation" under CDC. "In addition to what can be provided with the packaged care funding, providers and consumers can agree to additional services," he said.

Ms Harker said those additional services would drift out of reach after July 1.

"Well, I have thought about suicide, because what else can I do," she said.

"It crosses your mind as you're pondering all of these things and I wouldn't be the only person to have thought along those lines." more
