David's eye injury from the assault - pic of face

We spent most of yesterday at the Sydney Hospital eye part of it. A lot of waiting around in between being seen by various people. Eventually he ended up being seen by one of the eye doctors there with those super duper eye looker-into-er machines. He'd had to get some kind of fluid put in earlier that relaxed the eye so as it was easier to see into it.

He also showed the nurses and doctors a photo I took a day or so after the assault. So far I've been loath to post any of those pictures thinking he'd not like to be seen like that. But he told me he was very happy for me to. So here is the picture he was showing to the nurses and doctors to give them an idea of what happened. Note it's his left eye that he's now having trouble with. This is what my fucked up psycho nephew did to my David:

Disgusting. Appalling. Lost for words.... The bruising got much worse after that too over the next week. He ended up with two black eyes. All done in about 15 seconds of a frenzied attack. The nephew told the cops in lock up he thought he'd killed him as he "couldn't stop hitting him" FFS. Indeed. David could well have died if the punches had hit differently. The fuckwit is completely nuts. Thankfully David heals very well and all of that's gone now.

So the diagnosis.

The good news is that there's no chance he'll lose the sight in that eye. The retina is not detached.

The rest of the news isn't so good. When he was hit his eye sort of got squashed. The vitrios fluid in the eye is normally attached to the retina somehow, but when he was hit some of that fluid was ripped away from the retina. Over time it will heal itself and re-attach, however it depends on the nature of the tearing away as to whether there may be problems in the re-attaching. The doctor explained it as like a sticker being pulled off; sometimes it comes off cleanly and sometimes it tears. He has another appt in a month if he's getting problems as describes by the doctor. Those being an increase in flashes and or the appearance of "floaters".

So there you have it. The psycho fucked up David's eye. I've already emailed the doctors report to the police. Psycho is due in court end of the month.
