Gay marriage will threaten straight marriage fidelity - christian net writings

More love from the christians. Oh boy is this ever some far out wacked out shit that I've bumped into online.

Recently I came across some video of a preacher guy in the US (it's on the blog somewhere recently but I'm hopeless at categorising :s) who was saying that gay marriage will terribly affect the unfortunate straight dears who dare to know that gays are getting married. Apparently that would make those poor dear straights who don't appear to be able to think for themselves, think that it's OK to play around on the Missus because us gays play around and we can be married.

Well today I came across this shit actually put into writing believe it or not, as number six in the top five wacked out reasons why not to have gay marriage. ..... I kid you not......  curtesy of some mental thing in the US called the Family Research Council. Or FRC for short. Supposedly all legit.
6. Same-sex "marriage" would undercut the norm of sexual fidelity within marriage.

One of the biggest threats that same-sex "marriage" poses to marriage is that it would probably undercut the norm of sexual fidelity in marriage. In the first edition of his book in defense of same-sex marriage, Virtually Normal, homosexual commentator Andrew Sullivan wrote: "There is more likely to be greater understanding of the need for extramarital outlets between two men than between a man and a woman." Of course, this line of thinking--were it incorporated into marriage and telegraphed to the public in sitcoms, magazines, and other mass media--would do enormous harm to the norm of sexual fidelity in marriage.

One recent study of civil unions and marriages in Vermont suggests this is a very real concern. More than 79 percent of heterosexual married men and women, along with lesbians in civil unions, reported that they strongly valued sexual fidelity. Only about 50 percent of gay men in civil unions valued sexual fidelity. more
You can read all the other 9 crazy reasons here.

BTW, David and I are completely monogamous. We have not the slightest desire to go back out dating/meeting/whatever and having casual sex.

Yeah right, David and I getting married will somehow threaten straight monogamy :s
