A generation without science? - USA

The recently published statistic that 46% of US citizens believe in Creation, Adam and Eve in the garden, the earth is only 6,000 years old, that sort of wacko thing. With pressure being put on schools there in some cases to offer Creation as an alternative to Evolution, there is a real fear than many young Americans may well grow up into adulthood believing in this fairy tale as a fact. Stupid religious morons who have no idea about science.

This is a fascinating discussion about how such thinking affects people, particularly as Evolution and climate change are now being lumped together by the religious right, as being wrong. That in fact god created everything 6,000 years ago and climate change isn't real (I dunno where the fuck that is in the bloody bible).

It's all starting to sound very familiar here in Sydney. Is the reason why Abbott thinks "climate change is crap" because he's from the extreme religious right? Fuck sake he's already been talking about fairies.
