NSW farmers drop climate change skepticism

Until now farmers have held a very skeptical view on climate change, even questioning the science as proven or not. However a motion put forward by NSW Young Farmers at the NSW Farmers Association annual conference has decidedly changed their position.
With these political divisions as a backdrop, there's now been a major shift on the issue from one of the country's most influential farming groups.

Delegates attending the New South Wales Farmers Association annual conference have passed a motion calling on governments to do much more to support the transition from fossil fuels towards renewable energy sources.

In doing so, they've dumped their previous position which called for a Royal Commission into whether humans were responsible for climate change. more
From an email today, the resolution states:
NSW Farmers acknowledges that primary producers are on the front line of seasonable variability, exacerbated by a changing climate, and supports its members playing an active role in the issue.

NSW Farmers encourages Governments to support the transition from fossil fuels such as coal and gas towards more renewable energy sources in rural, regional and remote areas where their operation can be shown to have a net benefit to rural and farming communities.
