Alan Jones is losing it

Jones is spitting the dummy all over the place. I thought things would have likely died down a touch by now, bit it looks like they're doing the reverse and intensifying. Jones isn't helping matters at all by his reactions. He seems to think that exploding verbal diarrhoea at all and sundry will help. It's not.

Maybe the actions of Mercedes-Benz has reignited the revoltion to Jones' hate speak. They've decided (and good on them for it) to permanently pull the plug on their advertising with Jones, and the $250,000 car he's driving around in of theirs they want back by the end of the month, or they'll repossess it. Anyone else who was genuinely apologetic for their actions leading up to this would probably shrug their shoulders and say "fair enough", but not Jones. He's gone on the attack at Mercedes-Benz:
Mercedes-Benz pulled its advertising from Sydney radio station 2GB and stripped Jones of his $250,000 sponsored car after he suggested Prime Minister Julia Gillard's father had "died of shame" over her "lies".

Jones lashed out at the decision, singling out Mercedes-Benz corporate communications manager David McCarthy for particular criticism.

"This bloke McCarthy has big noted himself on behalf of Mercedes-Benz and said: 'Well you know I want the car back straight away and if we don't, we'll get over there and repossess it'," Jones told his listeners on Monday morning.

"You big hero Mr McCarthy, how many phone calls did you make to me? "You absolutely gutless wonder - none, none - easy to shoot your mouth off and present an image which is completely untrue."

Jones suggested Mercedes dealers in Sydney would be angry at the decision, which he said could lead to salesmen losing their jobs.
"How the hell, in the light of this kind of treatment, do you sell Mercedes-Benz product?" he said. more
*sheesh* What a nut. He actually thinks that because Mercedes-Benz isn't going to advertise on his show, then they won't be able to sell any cars.Talk about delusions of grandier.

Jones' radio station 2GB has also cancelled all advertising on his show until further notice as the sponsors have come under immense pressure from the online campaign against him. That's about $80,000 a day in lost revenue. Again, instead of taking it on the chin he rants and raves about it like the drama queen he is:

He then launched an eight-minute diatribe about the "21st century cyber bullies" who were making the threats on social media websites.

Jones said if the bullies were allowed to continue, modern Australia could become a "dark place". "If this is the new Australia, then we are all at risk," he said.

His comments sparked fresh criticism, with some suggesting Jones was being hypocritical.

"So let me get this straight - Alan Jones is allowed to bully the PM & several other prominent women but this isn't ok?" one person wrote on Twitter.
Another said: "Alan you have reaped reward for your own behaviour. Learn from it."more
He really needs to have his blood pressure checked. A few years ago when social media wasn't around on the internet, he could get away with being an insulting hate monger, spreading lies and erroneous "facts" to the masses to suit his own agenda. Now however the public has a voice and can do something about him, and he doesn't like it one bit. A bully being bought to account, brilliant!

He can't pick and chose which people he lets speak on his show, and he can't hang up on people in cyberspace. A dinosaur from yesteryear, flailing around without a leg to stand on, not even understanding what's happening to him. All he can do is yell at people, attracting more criticism and further shrinking his support.

Will the rage last against him? I dunno. Peter FitzSimons thinks it will:

And the response since, has been wonderful. Yes, yes, yes, no doubt Jones ratings will go up next time as the mob rush back to defend Alan, but this time decent Australia – which is to say the vast majority of the country – is watching closely. Which sponsors will be there with him? I don't mean now. That is not the test. I mean six months and one year from now. Those sponsors are being watched. The sensible ones won't touch the Jones show with a barge-pole. Read more
