Snow in Spring. WTF?

Last year we had a very cool summer, in which I hardly even had the air conditioner on at all. This summer the weather people are predicting a hot one, although I've got no idea how they could predict that. Maybe they're wrong. After the last couple of days in southern NSW it's not exactly looking like a lot of hot days on the way. We've had some very cold weather, and even though it's Spring here they've gotten snow in places just west of Sydney.
