Hoping to glimpse the real man behind the Wikileaks headlines, 1.34 million viewers last night tuned in to the Ten Network telemovie Underground: The Julian Assange Story.
The telemovie starred Alex Williams as a 17-year-old Julian Assange and tells the story of a group of Melbourne hackers, including Assange, who hacked into US military computers and attracted the attention of international authorities.
It also starred Rachel Griffiths as Julian's mother, Christine Assange, and Anthona LaPaglia as Detective Ken Roberts, an Australian Federal Police officer who heads the team tasked with finding the hackers.
The telemovie drew its strongest mainland capital city audience in Melbourne - where the story was set - with 491,000 Melburnians tuned in. In Sydney it drew an audience of 376,000 viewers.
It peaked at 1.55 million viewers. more
