Faces of HIV today

With all the huge advances in HIV treatment in the last 15 years or so, HIV+ people are no longer the frail and sick people that they used to be. Unfortunately many people don't seem to realise this.

When I told my sister I was HIV positive, I was surprised at her lack of understanding on the subject. I had to explain to her that the images in her head of sick and dying people are no longer prevalent. Well not in Australia. It came as somewhat of a shock to her that Africans still died from the disease simply because they didn't have the money for HIV medication. And she's an intelligent woman, a teacher.

I loved this little video about HIV today.
