Record submissions for NSW marriage equality

The parliamentary inquiry into same sex marriage in New South Wales (I mentioned it the other day) has received a record number of submissions.
While no official count is yet to take place it is believed that at least 55 per cent or more of submissions are in favour of NSW introducing state-based marriage equality laws, with almost 4,000 submissions in favour handed in by progressive lobby group GetUp alone this morning. more
Thanks to anyone who followed my link to the submissions page at GetUp. The amount of interest shown is indicative of both the interest around the issue, but also that many feel same sex marriage is long overdue in Australia. Perhaps NSW will go it alone.
