COURTNEY Act has released a new single ahead of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade this weekend.
Kaleidoscope, which was co-written with Sam Sparro and makes reference to the increasing presence of gender and sexual fluidity in Australian society, is also the official anthem of this year’s Mardi Gras festival.
The music video for Kaleidoscope features a feminine Act, who identifies as gender fluid, sparking a summer love with a girl along Sydney’s famous Bronte to Bondi walk.
Act said the story is about continuing to break down the binaries that shape conventional storytelling.
“I aim to confuse,” Act said.
“Having identified as a gay man most of my adult life, the last few years I have realised that both my sexuality and gender are fluid.” Star Observer
