Revolting anti-gay flyer surfaces in Adelaide and Sydney

Front of flyer

More love from the christians........

This one is a real beauty of hate mongering darlings. One that I find so dreadfully infuriating, especially when nothing is put on it identifying what organisation or group is responsible for it. Gutless chicken shit assholes, throwing shit at us whilst hiding in the shadows. Too scared to show their face/faces and put their name/names and reputations behind their pathetic and miss-informed hate flyer. Almost the same one as last year. *pffffft*

Here it is, for the benefit and edification that I may now mock it in laughter:

The ignorance in this is profound. Starting at the top with the first statistic saying 12% infections of gays in Australia. Well according to a study released in 2014 by the Kirby Institute says it's actually 8-12%, but of course they quote the higher figure to assert we're all disease bags assumedly wandering around the place on an evil infection mission or something. It's disingenuous to simply say the higher number like that.

Also the percentages vary widely across the country. In eastern Sydney for example it's around 18% of gays with it. That however isn't the point. The real issue is that gays are being largely responsible about the disease making sure they take the medication properly and all. Most of us these days have an undetectable HIV viral load with todays meds, which means it's just about impossible to pass it on to anyone, even with unprotected sex. Can that be said of the straight community?

Also, although in recent years infection rates have increased in Australia, we've a history here of doing way better than overseas countries in keeping infection rates down. Note the graphic from 2010:

Oh but no, 12% have the dreaded grim reaper disease! Evil gays infecting killer disease with devil horns on foreheads, bla...... Good grief.....

OK now the next one about anal cancer. Yes it's true, gays who are HIV+ (note that was left out of the flyer) do have a much higher rate of anal cancer than average straight people. David and I are both therefore involved in a study of volunteers re anal cancer; hence the occasional reports here about seeing the inside of my ass on camera in front of me. This is working towards ways of dealing with anal cancer that don't involve getting half your ass removed after it's too late. Again, we recognise the statistic and are doing our bit to help. Can that be said about the straight world?

The gonorrhea one, fuckin hell man. So what? People who have a lot of sex with different people occasionally get something, gay or straight. The thing is, again, being responsible. The message in the gay world is that if you're particularly sexually active you should be having STD tests at least every 3 months. Look after yourself.

And onto the last one, and it's a doozy darlings. One of those that is the most hateful and sadistic of all the anti-gay rhetoric. I even mentioned this the other day in a post I can't remember now as being noteworthy of truly the most hateful, and here it pops up again.

First the christians make life so difficult for gays growing up and daring to exist (note Safe Schools debacle last week) that we end up with mental health issues far exceeding our straight counterparts. As I mentioned the other day, you just never get used to discrimination for example, or being bullied at school, etc. This is not our fault, the fault lying at the feet of those who make life so very hard for us sometimes. Particularly the very sorts of people who produce such leaflets as above.

Yet those same people deny their involvement in producing these mental health issues, instead blaming us for them for being gay. This is some of the most dementedly hateful anti-gay rhetoric anyone could imagine. Actually they stop short a bit from going all the way here. Some have said that gay suicide rates are the fault of gays themselves for being gay. Oh can't you just feel the christian love flowing darlings!

And finally, it's the usual Bible bla quoting, but nobody's name is put to it. Gutless wonders. It simple says "Read the Bible".

Well I have. Three times from cover to cover over three years when I was getting my bachelors degree in theology. In the end it didn't address the modern world and who I was inside. How could it? It was written 2,000 years ago by desert nomads clear on the other side of the world. I'm more at peace with myself now than I've ever been. The Bible helped naught.
