A Melbourne man has become only the 4th person in the world to contract HIV whilst adherence to the HIV preventative drug Truvada. Or better known these day as PrEP, the drug that is 99% effective in preventing HIV infection even with someone who has a high viral load.
With all the people taking this drug it's still only 99% effective. That's by the tests all done before PrEP was bought on the market. There's still a 1% chance that one will be infected with HIV.
How many women have fallen pregnant on the pill? Even the pill isn't 100%., but nearly 100%. Condoms aren't 100%. Nothing really is 100%.
