ATO proposes outsourcing IT work to Philippines

Think of this next time you're filling out a tax return:
The Australian Tax Office (ATO) is open to the invitation by global business process outsourcing (BPO) giant Accenture to offshore IT work to the company's offices in the Philippines. However, ATO assured Australians that the deal, if it would push through, would exclude sending of personal tax information to Manila.

It would be similar to Accenture's agreement with the Health Department which outsources IT work to India, but no patient data or medical records leave Australia. more
Man oh man, if they ever do that it'll be such a huge mistake. At my old job the rocket scientist bean counters decided to outsource much of it's IT work to the Philippines and it turned into fuck up after fuck up. Information would get sent off all OK to be processed over there, and often it'd come back with something wrong with it. Sometimes tens of thousands of mailing pieces would get sent out with the wrong information on them as it'd been fucked up offshore.

Yeah, outsource IT to the Philippines...... that'll work :s
