Is Abbott's poll slide back on?

The main thing to take out of this I'd say is the rise of the Greens in the last couple of weeks. With both major parties scared shitless of offending Obama, and clown Abbott banging the drums like a wind up toy, going back into Iraq will very likely become deeply unpopular among the Australian population. Particularly when Abbott is screaming austerity but wants to throw $billions at another stupid futile US war. The Greens are the only party opposing going back into Iraq.

That said, the Greens result is of genuine interest, in that the party has held on to its 1.4% lift from last week, leaving little room for doubt that the bipartisan consensus on Iraq has been to its advantage. more
