24th out of 28 OECD countries - 2015 average broadband speed, Australia (graphic)

Out of 28 OECD countries, the average 2015 internet speed is 24th.

In the middle of Sydney we appear to be doing much better with our particular line (no NBN here) as the test result today shows below.

The problem isn't the line speed but the entire network. In recent times Australians have been taking up streaming services, that use the internet to stream movies and the like through the telly (Netflix opened up here the other month) and I have read that all that streaming is now slowing down the whole network.
