We have both embarked on applying for an urgent Housing place, through ACON. Last time I tried this, dragging my daughter along who had no idea about how to prove how much she was earning as at the time she was doing child care for parents at the local school (whilst she studied at TAFE) getting paid in cash. So you can imagine how that didn't didn't fit anywhere on Housing forms; I mean you just about have to give a bloody DNA sample for those things. So that time it just seemed all to hard right from the start, with the final nail in the coffin of the form being when she got her $45,000 a year job out of the blue and of course made the household over the income limit to even apply. At that point I officially canned the form at ACON.
This time around however is an entirely different story. There's two of us now. And we're both fucked. Both HIV+, one suffering HIV work discrimination and the financial, mental, and emotional consequences that follow from that. The other been entirely fucked and on the DSP for 2-3 years and obviously on limited income. Now in a hopeless situation with money with no definitive relief in sight. We're in the shit, big time.
So we had the half hour intro thing yesterday for the ACON bloke to get an idea of our situation, and we go back next Thursday for the big grand starting of the process. I certainly hope there'll be some movement with this whole thing this time around.
The biggest problem facing us at the moment is the rent. It's way too much for what we're getting. Well about to get I guess. David's still waiting for Centrelink money to come through after we lodged the forms last Thursday. If there's nothing in there by tomorrow then it's the credit card for the rent again this week.
