One of the things to come out of this whole court thing over the last few months, is that some people are just horribly viscous in nature. It's hard for me to understand people like this as I'm not, and neither is David. The kind of asshole-ness required for the person to do what they did beggars belief.
Now that the court case is all over I can give the odd detail or two about what actually happened. For the benefit of anonymity I will call the person who had David charged by the name of "Asshole".
A brief history is that he's an ex from David's past. Asshole moved in with him, lied about everything, and used David's HIV against him. He paid no rent and fuck all else, causing arguments in which the point was reached that he told David "I'm risking my life being with you", at which time David had him escorted off the premises by the cops. The relationship was no more. A week later David found out he'd been HIV+ the whole time. Fuck! How could someone be so fuckin viscous as to do something like that? Asshole also after that got an AVO on David as he went and clobbered Asshole (as you do if you're that way inclined I guess) which I suppose was fair enough. Turned out though it was all part of a plot.
Cut to the incident where he had David charged.
Asshole is sitting on the footpath bit of Kinsellas Hotel at Taylor Square, drinking wine and pissed as a fart. David is walking past the Hotel on the way home from work and Asshole calls him over, starts an argument, gets up and trips on the step to inside because he's so plastered, and claims great injury. David leaves keeping on going home. The cops are called to the pub and Asshole goes with them to the station to make a statement against David, claiming he'd breached the AVO against him. A very serious offence. You will be arrested first and asked questions later, as indeed David was that time.
Well thankfully the truth became clear to the magistrate as she finally got to look at the evidence herself. And Asshole got really fucked around through the whole process :) But it doesn't change the sort of surprise and horror that someone could be that viscous and horrible to another person.
