Centrelink cut off scare!

Good grief :s

So on Friday we look online to see if David's Carers Allowance has been processed yet and in the next payment. Um, something looked really weird. According to the Centrelink computer the next payment was nothing, ever. How bizarre. Thought it was probably a glitch or something that'd sort itself out, and it was too late to ring them anyway.

This morning we look again and still the same thing, next payment $0.00. Oh crap. So it's the long phonecall; this time it was about a half our wait on hold. He finally gets through to a human being. She actually knows what she's doing and goes about fixing the problem.

The problem was, sometimes the Centrelink plastic brain decides that it can't remember somebody's tax file number. So what you may ask? Well, once the Centrelink brain gets this slight touch of amnesia, it goes about slashing and burning. Or to put it more precisely, it completely cuts you off all payments without giving any reason at all. No online letters saying it's forgotten what your tax file number is and therefore has no choice but to cut you off. Just nothing. In fact the last bit of online Centrelink correspondence said his next payment date and amount.

The lady explains this and fixes it somehow on the Centrelink brain. Have checked again online and all is well now. They still haven't processed the Carers Allowance yet though.
