Precious Pyne insurrection with Abbott's gay marriage captains call

It's starting to look like insurrection in Team Abbott now. Precious Pyne is now openly criticising the way Abbott used the National party to ensure a no conscience vote for LGBT marriage.

In Lieberalspeak, Pyne is a "core" member of the front bench. Who BTW is looking at electoral annihilation in his own Adelaide seat. Perhaps he's jumping off the Team Abbott ship of fools in an attempt to limit his own political damage?

In any case, Abbott's hold on the Lieberal party prime ministership is looking decidedly more shaky by the day. What a pickle they're in now eh? With barely a year to go before the election (unless Abbott commits suicide and calls an early election) they are looking down the barrel fair and square at the end of the Abbott gov, after only one term.

Will they change leaders now? Given their performance 6 months ago I doubt it. Nobody wants the poison chalice. My guess is Abbott would call an election before stepping down. Go down with the ship and all that stuff you know.

And Mr Abbott's own chief of parliamentary tactics, Education Minister Christopher Pyne, has again expressed his umbrage at the way Mr Abbott used the junior Coalition partner, the socially conservative Nationals, to ensure the reform push was soundly defeated.

In a sign of ongoing friction, Mr Pyne used a Sydney radio interview to support his view expressed first in the Liberal party room on Tuesday, that inveigling the Nationals had been akin to "branch stacking" by the Prime Minister.

"I'm of the view, and I was of the view yesterday, that the Liberal Party should have a meeting of its own to discuss this matter of whether there should be a free vote on the issue of marriage equality," Mr Pyne told 2GB. more
