David discriminated against

David got a call back from ACON yesterday, after his enquiring to them about what happened at his work. They made an appt for him to go in and see them next week, and also that they'd be happy to represent him in court for nothing. He'll find out more next week at the appt.

He then rang his work and told his boss there what was happening and why he was doing this. Whether management are running for cover or if they had something to do with his HIV status being spread around work, isn't for me to conjecture on. Suffice to say that management are on his side and are blaming the nurses who were gossiping about it to each other; people in a position of trust who should know better at the very least. I guess if management comes up smelling like roses then the nurses involved will have to defend themselves in court/seek their own legal counsel.

I dunno how far this is going to go, but this is an excellent example of a bit of work gossip turning into something far more serious. Take note anybody who doesn't know, you can't just go around telling people about somebody's HIV status at work without their permission to do so. You could find yourself in some very hot water.

I'm glad David is doing this. He was really upset the other day when he got home, had been crying in the car on the way home. We may be HIV+, but we're not going to be just trampled on like they did him.
