But then again.......... Newspoll:
OMG! Is Rudd going to do it again? Extract victory from a Coalition that's been on the road to victory for the last three years? Is the Abbott antichrist scenario about to fade off the radar?
Rudd has already stamped himself firmly in the Labor hall of fame by getting rid of that ghastly John Howard. Was like pulling teeth that one. But he won so convincingly that Howard became only the second serving Australian prime minister to lose his own seat in a federal election; not only did he lose, but got booted out of parliament too. Rudd was the conquering hero, as unions fought for survival against WorkChoices (which fucked all workers over en mass whilst Howard crapped on that everything was fine), and people could avoid the right wing extremism that the Coalition had become under Howard.
Now we have that right wing extremist Abbott, trying to sneak in under the radar on the back of his own inspired Gillard hate club. For three years he's been able to set the agenda, but now Rudd won't have it. The other night when Abbott demanded Rudd call an election now if he wants a debate, Rudd almost laughed at him. In other words, the party is over for Abbott. Against Rudd he's up against a very smart bloke who'll hang the idiot out to dry given the chance. The opposing anything that moves tactic looks pretty stupid now.
Will Rudd win this one? I dunno. Like I've said, Labor has been a long long way behind for ages and one poll does not an election make. It's starting to look a bit hopeful though.
