Key unions have been frozen out from budget stakeholder briefings in an ominous pointer to harsh measures against workers likely to be announced next Tuesday night.
The AMWU is among the unions told there will be no room for them in the Budget day lock-up, where key industry players are given access to the Budget papers and expert briefings.
AMWU National Secretary Paul Bastian said this had never happened before, describing the lock out as an attempt to stop the union from giving a fully-informed reaction to a tough Budget on the night.
"This Government doesn't like hearing the truth, it wants to evade democratic accountability, so it is trying to give trade unions the mushroom treatment", he said. more

Unions locked out of budget briefings for 1st time
Spectacularly, this gov has locked out key unions in the budget lock up briefings on the night of the budget. This is the first time this has ever happened. Is there any other single act by this gov that shows it's governing only for big business? I'd be hard pressed to think of one. So what about governing for everyone then?
