The cruise ship security says he jumped from the deck.
He was a married partner of another man. His lawyer (the family is suing the company) says he fell off the balcony of their cabin in an altercation with security staff over gay slurs uttered by them and the crew members. Also that the ship didn't stop and search, or even throw a life raft.
It was recorded on video after he went over, him hanging onto a life raft thing. To me it looks like he was hanging on and in despair, slipping and falling into the water.
