This is interesting. Next time I go shopping in the supermarket it's certainly relevant to consider just how fresh the "fresh" produce is. I've noticed that the independent grocery store near here has much more locally produced food, unlike the major supermarkets where it travels many kilometres before it gets on the shelf.
