Less than a week ago I celebrated the most sacred of public commitments that any one of us is ever likely to make. However, a few days later, I walked out of the High Court legally unmarried again.
It was personally devastating despite knowing that defeat was a possibility.
Like the hope that we all hold for the future when entering into marriage I held hope that this was the moment that these laws would change our landscape forever. However, clearly, that wasn’t to be.
It is beyond sad that the marriage equality debate has been most active recently with the Commonwealth charging into the High Court to assert that discriminating against the GLBTI community remains its exclusive domain.
We, as a nation, are better than this and my beloved Canberra community has demonstrated this in heartbreakingly beautiful ways in the lead up to our nuptials. more

Ivan and Chris - same love
These are one of the couples that got married in the ACT earlier this month, a week later Abbott's High Court challenge annulled it. This pic is part of a set that you can find here.
