Clergy from several different religious denominations will march in this year’s Sydney Mardi Gras Parade under the banner ‘Equality through Marriage’.
The group organising the 100 Revs parade contingent was formed in 2008 when over 100 ministers signed an apology for the failure of the church to show Christ’s love to LGBTI people.
“As Christian ministers we regard marriage as a loving, exclusive and lifetime commitment,” explains 100 Revs spokesperson Rev. Matt Glover, “and we support the aspiration of same-sex couples to have their loving, exclusive and lifetime commitment recognised and celebrated through marriage.” more

100 reverends - Mardi gras parade
The 100 reverends started a few years back with a bunch of Christian clergy announcing that they would apologise to gays for all the hatred that's come from their religion. They've been marching in the Mardi Gras parade ever since, along with others as numbers increase. So pleasing to see Sydney Mardi Gras bringing out the best in people. Of course I don't believe in any religion, but at least through the religious blinkers people have made a choice for love and not hate. After all, wasn't that what that fictional character Jesus was raving on about?
