Uganda reacts to Obama's condemnation

After the Ugandan president signed the "jail the gays" law (the christian version not the Islamic one in Nigeria) the other day, Obama hinted that relations with Uganda were now "complicated" by the signing. Being a Christian country, Uganda is a US ally in Africa. So how can a western nation be allied to a country that will jail gays for being gay? Not to mention the hateful Hitler type rhetoric coming out of the place against gays. It's becoming pretty clear that Washington is going to have to take some sort of action against Uganda in this, if only to make an example out of them that the west will not simply give $bazillions to nations in aid when they're persecuting their own citizens simply because of who they are.

So now that the writing's on the wall, Ugandan's now have the nerve to cry foul over any plans to link aid to human rights. They have the nerve to preach to us what is fair and what isn't, and what the west should be doing with it's own money. The nerve to hate the very existence of the gay people who's taxes are going to pay for their fuckin aid. And they reckon we're being unfair? Oh please....my heart bleeds......
A senior Obama administration official said Washington - a major aid donor sending more than $400 million a year - would review U.S. relations with Uganda, a key regional ally in the fight against Islamic extremism in Somalia.

But Ethics and Integrity Minister Simon Lokodo said aid should not be tied to Uganda's stand on homosexuality.

"We don't like to blackmail others. It's very dishonest, very irresponsible and unfriendly of persons to attach behavior of another community to their sharing resources," Lokodo told Reuters TV in Kampala. more
This is the same guy who said this the other day:
“We are tolerant. That’s what we are saying: we are not slaughtering them,” he said in the video posted to the Independent’s website.

Of the estimated half a million gay Ugandans, he went on: “They can come and be helped to come out of this unfortunate situation… It’s like a drug addict. Drug addiction is not an innate situation, it is acquired. But they can be transformed and become better.”

“So we are saying anybody found committing this incredible and abominable act should be checked and isolated from society.”

Concluding, he said: “If you are found practising it, we shall take you to a cell.” more
Why the fuck should we listen to anything that comes out of that guy's mouth? He's about as moral as Hitler.

Get used to it fuckwits. Perhaps I could use a line from Abbottism, tongue in cheek of course. Looks like the "age of entitlement" might be over for Uganda? :)
