Why am I not surprised. What a despicable man Abbott is. Pictured is Lieberal Warren Entsch who introduced the bill into the party room to discuss a conscience vote. However Abbott, yet again, stood in the way. To gasps from fellow party room members present.
I maintain that there will never be marriage equality in Australia with Tony Abbott as prime minister. He will go to the election with this political millstone around his neck. I hope I'm wrong.
Chris Uhlmann says discussion on #marriageequality in the Liberal Party of Australia party room today as "very very messy".
Warren Entsch MP moved discussion on conscience vote.
abbott intervened and said it would be considered by a joint party room meeting in future despite saying the party room "would decide" and he wouldn't intervene.
There were "audible gasps".
Christopher Pyne stood up and accused abbott of "branch stacking".
Almost all National Party of Australia - The Nationals MPs and Senators reject marriage equality.
Interesting that abbott and the Hard Right are scared of it going to just the Liberal Party party room.
Warren Entsch have a general spray about his lot's incompetence.
You want marriage equality? Elect a majority Labor government.
Over 85% of Labor MPs and Senators have committed to vote for marriage equality under vote in the first 100 days of a Labor government. facebook link
The Liberals are ambivalent about marrriage equality. Oh, marriage they love! It's just that equality thing they've always struggled with.
