Our small world

Was watching a doco on TV last night. All about the universe and things. At the end they showed this picture.

It's the last picture of Earth, taken from the Voyager 1 space probe. It's so far I think the only one of Earth taken from outside the solar system. Earth is the small blue dot, a bit over half way along the top line. Funny to think that everything we've ever done is contained in that tiny dot.

Another thing that was said, was explaining that our solar system rotates around the centre of the galaxy going at some phenomenal speed. Yet man's whole existence, in our whole history on Earth, the solar system has only travelled less than one tenth of one percent of a single revolution of that orbit.

Gives a different perspective from the every day life we lead.
