David Pocock and Canberrans take action at the Leard Blockade

This is to do with a push to get the Canberra gov to divest in dirty energy.
Former Wallabies Captain and current Brumbies player David Pocock has joined Canberrans and Maules Creek farmer Rick Laird to lock on to halt construction of Whitehaven Coal's Maules Creek mine at the Leard State Forest.

The group of Canberrans is also calling on the ACT Government to divest its shares in Whitehaven Coal and other fossil fuel companies.

Speaking about why he is taking action, David says: “I believe it’s time for direct action on climate change, standing together as ordinary Australians to take control of our shared future. It’s inspiring to join other Canberrans and Rick Laird in their call for the ACT Government to quit their investments in Whitehaven.” more
There's also a petition going open to all who want to sign anywhere:
The ACT has Australia's most ambitious targets for emissions cuts and growing the renewable energy of the future. So why on this threatened earth does it invest in the coal, gas and oil that undermines all its good work? It's a moral shame and a big financial risk. sign
