Tori Johnson, the hero who saved the lives of those in the Sydney siege by losing his, the gay man in a long term relationship that Abbott wouldn't let marry his partner, is now being put forward for the Cross of Valour medal in a new petition to Abbott.
How ironic. An Australian hero such as this who Abbott denied the right to marry his partner of 14 years, is now being asked by the Australian people for the same Abbott to award him said medal. Isn't karma a bitch.
Now, if said medal is awarded, who will it be awarded to? In a hetro marriage obviously the wife. However as Abbott denied him the right to marry, will the medal be awarded to his partner of 14 years? Or his parents. One would hope it would be his partner. Imagine how he'd feel if it wasn't.
Well this is going to be a rather sticky situation for homophobic Abbott isn't it.

Australian Bravery Decorations recognise acts of bravery by members of the community. They selflessly put themselves in jeopardy to protect the lives or property of others.
I wish to nominate "Tori Johnson" for the Australian Cross of Valour. This one man selflessly put himself in harm’s way more than once and sacrificed his own life to help others escape the Lindt Cafe Siege, Sydney. This man deserves nothing less than our respect and honour and the least we can do is support the government in awarding this man the Australian Cross of Valour or an award of similar importance to show our respect and gratitude for his actions on the 16th Day of December, 2014. sign here
