ATO does a Centrelink system crash

Hey all the hard working people out there who've worked all year and are now trying to do their tax return online. Welcome to our Centrelink world.

Recently it was changed where all gov depts have to go through the "My Gov" portal rather than log on individually. Since that's happened the Centrelink site has been continually periodically fucked.

Yes, the gov wants you to go online, but then online doesn't work. The system is I suspect from the computer dark ages and held together with sellotape and rubber bands. Just ask any of the staff that work in Centrelink.

Good luck with your tax. My advice? Get a tax agent to do it.

BTW interesting this only makes the news when it's the ATO instead of us welfare scum :)
"We're experiencing some intermittent issues with our online services. We appreciate your patience & recommend that you try again later today," the ATO posted on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

It was followed up later that afternoon with another tweet.

"We are still experiencing some systems issues. We're working to resolve this as quickly as possible & apologise for any inconvenience," it read.

However, the service remained unfixed and the ATO was forced to issue another update on Thursday morning.

"We've worked through the night to implement a system fix. There's still ongoing issues which we're working on. We'll let you know more soon," it tweeted. more
