Abbott now a lame duck - Bob Ellis

Bod Ellis predicted that Abbott would be gone by this morning, but allas Tone's gone on some suck up tour overseas. 

Ellis however still stands by his assertion that Abbott is now on the way out. That he's a lame duck and will meet his fate upon return to Canberra:

All of which makes my prediction of Abbott’s fall by tonight or tomorrow morning…not that far off the mark. He is overseas, arse-crawling among the Indonesians who do not want, really do not want, his poor, his huddled masses turning up half-drowned on their storm-smitten beaches, and soon to be roared up by Obama for so barbarously assisting in the carbon-warmed incineration of a planet he, Obama, has grown fond of, and, with his numbers plummeting, and Turnbull’s rising, and Palmer’s rising, he is unable at that distance to turn around any of it. 

He is, I think, effectively finished as of this Jones tirade, and will come back a lame duck to to a room full of chainsaws in two weeks’ time. 

I knew this would happen. I sometimes have these premonitory feelings, and sometimes, not always, I am right. more
