With Abbott about to "axe the tax" now the focus of discussion has moved to just how much people will get in savings from it's axing. The $550 a year recited over and over by the gov is laughable in it's absurdity. Yet this carbon tax thing was Abbott's big grand plan to get into office. He grossly exaggerated the costs it imposed on everyday consumers, and said nothing about the very large tax cuts given to low and middle income earners that were funded by the tax.
So I guess the gov will be celebrating Australia's return to last century, but there may be a few worries in the back of their minds. This is now their day of reckoning, where their exaggerated lies get heaped on all the others this gov has told.
